Joseph's Dream
Radioontheshelf
Joseph Rowntree (1836 -1925) was a British businessman who gave the world the famous Rowntrees chocolates brand. But he was also a great philanthropist championing the cause of those who lived in poverty.
In 2024, one hundred years after his passing, the Joseph Rowntree foundation estimated that 4.3 million children in the UK are living in poverty of which 1 million are classed as being destitute.
At a time of the year when children are foremost in our minds it is a sad indictment of our country that so many will be without whilst the choosen few have far too much.
Many thanks to the late Oberonskye for his vocal which I have used together with that of the girl from the confectionery counter
