I Had A Real Good Time Last Night

texasradiofish

In the 1970s, the late Cornell Butler and I created an original song for piano and vocal called I Had a Good Time Last Night.

We recorded the song in my college apartment living room using a spinet piano and a Roberts sound on sound 1/4 inch tape recorder with a single inexpensive high impedance microphone. Cornell’s second vocal line was recorded using the sound on sound feature.

45 years later, I extracted the vocals stem from a digital copy of this truly lofi recording.

Copperhead’s drums, Kara’s ukulele, bass and resonator guitars are used to create a 2-step rhythm.

A single uke chord (notes C#,E,A) was cut, repitched, stretched and pasted to create the chords of the progression in the key of C.
